No one saw the shuttle land.
There was no explosion. No invasion sirens. No dramatic skyline silhouette.
Just a quiet disruption in the grid ... a three-second blackout across EF City’s east quadrant. Long enough to reset clocks. Long enough to rewrite permissions. Long enough for The Collective to announce its presence without saying a word.
Kael M’Baku stepped out of a black, unmarked transport beneath the old monorail district. Mid-twenties. Calm. Immaculate posture. Dressed in a charcoal coat layered over minimalist black - nothing flashy, nothing theatrical. The kind of man you would pass on the street and forget.
Almost.
There’s something slightly wrong when you look at him too long.
His eyes don’t quite blink at natural intervals.
His expression settles a fraction too precisely.
A faint seam traces from his temple toward his ear .. not metal, not glowing. Just… engineered.
He does not rush. He does not threaten. He does not shout.
He observes.
Because EF City is full of heroes. And heroes are inefficient.
