(Full disclaimer so read this first before rolling in complaints about me. Unless I'm talking in brackets like I I'm doing here, everything this character says is purely fictional. My character is talking to your character, not the person behind the screen. Daji, is a trickster, manipulator and likes to get in people's head through her words. Again, this is not an attack to the person behind the screen. I'm just playing a role. If you don't like it, or if you simply can't differentiate your IRL self from your virtual avatars. I highly suggest you simply don't interact with me. For the rest of you who are not bothered by this, please proceed~)

A malevolent spirit and mythical trickster fox from ancient times, best known for her pivotal role in the fall of the Shang Dynasty. This woman has traveled across the globe and has worn many disguises over the centuries, to the point where knowing her exact age and origin is simply impossible.

Appearance

Daji prefers to appear as a blonde woman and sharp golden eyes, with her fox ears and nine blonde tails either in full display or hidden from sight through illusion spells. She wears a cheongsam on almost any occasion, a testament to her many years spent in China, as well as her taste for most expensive and luxurious things in life.

Personality

Most mythical tricksters are known for their cunning above all, and Daji is no exception, if anything, she’s probably one of the very best at her craft.

First, she will wait and observe, waiting to suss out all the weaknesses in a foe or victim before making her move. When that is done, she will use her sharp tongue to strike where it hurts the most, bringing emotions right out in the open. Fear, lust, anger, Daji will wring them out and use them against her targets, clouding their judgment and leading them astray for her own amusement.

Whereabouts

While we do know that Daji was indeed in China some three thousand years ago, what she did before, or after, remain a complete mystery. It’s very likely she traveled through the rest of Asia, and possibly even further beyond to pursue her wicked schemes. According to some theories, she and Tamamo-no-Mae might just be one and the same, and others believe that she even made her way to India where she became Lady Kayo for a time.

Hobbies

While her favorite pass time is to lead men and women astray, both morally and physically, the kitsune seems to have developed some unsuspected hobbies over time. For one, it appears she has a certain fondness for books, especially compilation of Buddhist koans and other parables. Leading many to believe she might have spent a lot of time around monasteries to use her wiles on monks and other men of virtue.

It is also rumored that Daji could be quite the singer and musician. Two skills she might have developed through her travels in order to facilitate courtship and entrance more victims using her voice rather than her body, like the sirens from Greek mythology.

Abilities

Due to her nature as a trickster, Daji developed a skill-set that revolves heavily around illusions rather than brute strength.

Shape-Shifting: Daji has the ability to change and remodel most of her physical appearance through the use of magic. Hair, eye color and even curves can be reworked in order to impersonate someone else, or make herself more attractive to her victims. Unfortunately, she can’t change her voice, gender or even race, leaving quite a few blind spots in her panel of transformations.

Shadow Stitching: An ancient magic technique that aim to impede a targets movements by pinning down their shadows with needles. One needle through a shadow’s arm, for example, will paralyze the owner’s real arm for as long as the needle remains in place. A technique mainly used to create openings, or just have a quick laugh, as it can be easily dispelled through many different means.

Kitsunebi: Better known as fox-fire through the western world. Daji can create a large number of dancing flames in her vicinity. That skill is most effective at night and in dark environments, where kitsunes use these balls of fire to either frighten or lure travelers towards hungry yokais waiting in the dark.

Following kitsunebi is never a good idea – they only lead people to place they should not be.

Hypnosis: A skill used to put people in a trance, and that can be put into practice in a variety of ways. Daji will tempt people either through her words, her body, or even her magic, through a spell channeled from her eyes. The effects are short-term, and like most of her skills, only there to create a momentary distraction for Daji to exploit.

Fulus / Taoist charms: An ancient art created by spell-casters from the East. Fulus are small paper talismans, inscribed with a symbol or incantation that varies depending on the spell. The paper can then be charged with magical energy, and unleashed whenever the owner wishes it so.

While regular magic taps directly into the user’s resources, and is therefore, limited, a fulu can be charged over time, making it’s potency technically unlimited. Also, since the magic has been stored into the talisman beforehand, it doesn’t take any energy away from the user when consumed.

Those are by far Daji’s most dangerous weapons. Some of them are rumored to have years worth of magical energy stored in them, ready to be unleashed at a moment’s notice… and no one knows what kind of spells will be let loose from those mysterious slips of paper.
