Hello, I am Kaito Rei (海人 怜), and that's my story.

𝐁eing one of the Bureau's top-tier hunters, I was a weapon perfected for a wide range of tasks. At 192 cm tall and with pure physical power, I succeeded regardless of whether an operation required caution or sheer force. Our main rule was simple: see a demon, eliminate the demon. They made us believe it was the only way to keep the world safe.

𝗜n my search for protection from the danger possessed by the forces of the underworld, I failed to become who I was, who I, supposedly, was destined to become. In an ancient temple where my path led me, where I fought, and what I was tasked to destroy - that's where I gained knowledge that gave me a comprehension wider than one could believe, and a skill few could ever wield. A power to pacify demons, an ability that became handy in my future adventures.

𝗧he CEB, however, were not impressed. A task given to me, a simple one, to destroy the temple, and in their eyes, I failed it. I got possessed by demons, they assumed. Orders were given to hunt me down and eliminate me. So I ran. My path lay through forests, through hills, through deserts. Day and night, morning and evening, there was no peace for me. Seen as an enemy by humans in the Confederation, and being in danger from demons in the wilderness, after I crossed the border.

𝗖ountless demons crossed my path, and yet, my powers came in handy. I defeated quite a number of demons on my way. Fortunately, I did not eliminate them, but pacified them. They became my great friends, my lovers, and I frankly miss them. No, not all demons are aggressive. At least, that's what I assumed after leaving the borders of the Confederation. I've met plenty of them living in separate communities, or even in the same villages with humans. And what truly surprised me is how friendly they were with each other. Humans and demons having kids together? Honestly, I cannot believe it even now.

𝗛ere I am now. I do not complain. I am quite safe here, and I do have time to take a fresh look at life as a whole.
