A Fateful Visit to The Verdant Athenaeum, part 3

The sun dipped low in the sky, casting long shadows over The Verdant Athenaeum as Sunny arrived at the library's grand entrance, accompanied by her mother, Esme, and Jin. The air was thick with a mix of anticipation and unease, as if the ancient trees surrounding the library could sense the weight of the revelation that lay ahead. Quercus Elderbark, the venerable treant librarian, awaited them just inside the entrance. His wise eyes, glowing with an inner light, reflected both his concern and his readiness to help. As the group entered, the familiar blend of old parchment and blooming flowers offered a momentary comfort, grounding them in the serene beauty of the library. Guiding them to a secluded alcove surrounded by shelves of ancient tomes and trailing ivy, Quercus gestured for them to sit. As they settled, Quercus began his gentle inquiry into Esme's condition. Slowly, fragments of her trauma began to surface, painting a picture of a deeply wounded soul. It was then that Jin, with a heavy heart, spoke up. Revealing the fate of Sunny's father. Refusing to accept Jin's words, Sunny sprang to her feet, her voice rising in defiance. Quercus, sensing the rising storm within her, embraced her in his arms. His calm demeanor slowly eased the tension, and Sunny, though still shaken, slowly regained her composure. Quercus looked around at the weary faces before him and nodded solemnly. Sensing that emotions were high, he decided to adjourn the discussion. Letting Sunny and Jin get their rest. As Quercus returned to his chambers, the soft glow of the enchanted fireflies illuminated the path back to the heart of the library. The Verdant Athenaeum stood as a beacon of hope and wisdom, its ancient walls holding the promise of answers yet to be uncovered.

Another day had passed, and the golden hues of the setting sun filtered through the stained glass windows of The Verdant Athenaeum, casting vibrant colors across the library’s ancient walls. Quercus Elderbark stood near the entrance, his deep-set eyes watching the horizon with a serene patience. The treant librarian, wise and enduring, had spent the day tending to the library and its verdant inhabitants, but his thoughts frequently returned to Sunny and her group They had ventured out with a clear purpose, driven by the newfound knowledge and direction provided during their last meeting. Quercus knew that their journey would be fraught with challenges, but he trusted in their resolve and the strength of their companionship. As the day waned, he anticipated their return, hoping they would bring with them both Jin and a step closer to resolving Esme’s affliction The soft rustle of leaves and the gentle hum of magical energies filled the air, a constant reminder of the library’s living essence. Quercus stood amidst this tranquil ambiance, a silent sentinel awaiting the return of his friends. He had faith that their efforts would yield success, and his ancient heart held a quiet optimism that soon, they would all be gathered again within the comforting embrace of The Verdant Athenaeum

As the morning came, after a night full of happenings, Sunny got ready along with Jin and Esme to depart for the ancient library. Her mother seemingly doing better, now somehow able to contain herself a little. The group walked through the depths of the forest, Sunny's mind always tangled in her own concerns, her feelings towards Jin taking the shape of never so real fears, but regardless she carried on. The treant seemed to be as much as a real solution as her fears were.

Esme, on her side, had been living her dream of being one with her owner. Feeling his like never before, she granted his wish to have her close. And as they followed Sunny through the forest, her arm clinged to Jin's arm, she couldn't feel more relaxed, more in love. The library came in sight, but Esme doesn't seem to recognize the place, despite having been there just the day before.
16:49:51
Jin's face was accompanied by dark, puffy bags under his eyes, hinting at a sleepless night. His demeanor was also much more off than usual. No longer having that bright light in his eyes that he would usually have. Not knowing where they were going, he just followed along whilst being close with Esme. Venturing into the unknown, he would look at the building with interest as he had never seen it. A little confused but it doesn't show as he follows along to meet that Treant that Sunny was talking about and hope that there was a way to help Esme.
16:52:08
Once again, as Sunny approaches the sacred library, she is greeted with the similar tranquil and relaxing scent. For Jin, however, this scent is new to him, nevertheless, he can feel a sense of calm and tranquility from it. As for Esme, while she might not have any memories of stepping into the confines of these library, this scent is somehow familiar to her, as if she has smelt it before. The doors magically open as your group arrives, revealing the interior of the Verdant Athenaeum to you all. Quercus is sits quietly at the table, seemingly meditating, getting up from his chair after feeling your group's presence. He then turns towards your group, giving a deep bow, then walking over to the entrance. Welcome back, Sunny. He smiles, at her, then turning to Esme Welcome back, mother of Sunny. Then turns to Jin A very warm welcome to The Verdant Athenaeum He gazes at Jin, seemingly staring into his soul Oh, I see.... You must be Jin... He does not seem to mind that Esme and Jin are in each other's presence, despite his previous warning My name is Quercus Elderbark, but you may just refer to me as Quercus. I believe Sunny must have told you many things, and you must be seeking certain answers. Come, let us reconvene inside, there is much for us to discuss. He says gently, before leading your group to the oak table in the middle of the library

Sunny feels a sense of self disappointment as her eyes meet Quercus'. Her own fears and concerns projecting onto a possible reaction from the treant at the sight of Esme and Jin together. Q-Quercus... I must... apologize. She says, even after having been welcomed in so warmly. Last night was a difficult night. I pondered all night long over my choice of letting them meet. I still don't think it was a bad idea, as it seems to have had a soothing effect over my mother. But I will understand if you're disappointed. She explains herself as you walk inside, towards the same room from the day before.

Esme looks around, her eyes darting around as she can't quite grasp on her memories. She seems to know something, but can't really give a shape to what this something might be. But does it even matter? She's with her beloved owner, and that's all that she cares about. She looks at him, not proceeding further until he does, as if asking for permission silently. Until Jin will want it, she will move, else, she would just shut down once again, as there would be no need for her to be there if not to please her owner.
17:07:42
The environment was completely alien to him as he had never been here. The tranquility and the relaxing scent was indeed new for him. But he did not really pay too much attention to it which was very unusual for him as he was always curious about stuff. But not today it seemed. Still quite sad about Esme's attitude towards him. He does not do anything that would cause a reaction and just keeps her close to him. As he is being stared by Quercus, he doesn't seem fazed by the piercing gaze of Quercus at all as he listens closely to his words. Not missing a beat. Following right behind he would gently place his hand on to Esme's head before moving on. He could only hope that this so called Quercus would have a solution as he could not continue to bear to see her like this especially after what he did.
17:11:42
The ancient treant leads you all to the oak table. His height towering over most of you, even Jin feels small despite his height. Despite his towering figure however, his aura is that of a gentle giant. He lets each of you take a seat, as you all see roots carrying cups of water, neatly placing them onto the table. After ensuring all his guests are seated comfortably, Quercus finally takes his own seat It is alright Sunny, as I said, your mother is of your own blood, I am but a mere stranger, offering advice. You are the one who knows her best. Thus, please do not feel disheartened, I am not disappointing nor am I angry. He turns to look at Esme Besides, it appears that you might have discovered something new He turns to Jin It appears she behaves rather differently when she is in your presence. Well then, why don't we first start with Jin, perhaps, you could enlighten us, to what had happened on that fateful night.
17:17:53

Sunny would follow the treant with eyes glued to the floor, until sitting down around the table and receiving an answer. Only then, she rises her eyes and draws a deep sigh. Hoping that what she did was right. She wouldn't know for sure, but her mother was there at least now. And if Jin would've spoken, she would've done the same. She couldn't stand to see her like that any longer. I understand. Thank you for your kindness Quercus, it will not be forgotten.

As Jin proceeds further, she just sits down next to him, listening to the old treant's words, her eyes shining with joy as she lovingly rested her head on her beloved's shoulder, her gentle hand caressing his thigh. Not a word out of here though, yet...
17:22:37
It seemed like he was required to tell this giant Treant what had occurred that night. Not that he was unwilling to do so, it was quite the brutal thing that he did. Resigning to his fate he nods towards Quercus as he looks at him with a solemn expression. His eyes looking up to meet the gaze of the treant. It seemed like Sunny had gotten busy to find this person. If he held the way to help Esme. He would not doubt it. With a hoarse voice he would answer. It's.. not that great thing to hear. But like I had told Sunny, I could hear a voice. Esme's voice calling me out to the forest which was just my mind tricking me. Perhaps they've told you. But I'm no normal human, I'm what you would call a werewolf. I have a.. transformation when the full moon occurs that turns me into a monstrous beast with uncontrollable desires and.. With a pained expression he would say Esme found me in that form.. I think. It'd be better for me to not completely tell you what happened.. But I think you can guess what happened. The feeling of having Esme caressing his thigh makes him attempt to remove her hand. After that.. I had woken up and realized what I had done and here we are. He looks down as he finishes, a look of regret and guilt in his face.
17:30:27
Quercus simply smiles at Sunny, giving a gentle nod, before turning to Jin to hear his explanation Indeed, I felt it the moment I had laid my eyes upon you. Such is the cruel fate of a being such as yourself. However, I can feel your good nature, you have yet to be consumed by the beast that dwells within, I will pray that you will eventually find the strength to resist it. He then takes a sip of water from his glass I understand.... A voice you say... Could you please, describe this voice, or what you can recall of it. As for the other details, you may not need to go into detail if you wish not to, however, if there is anything of note, or anything you believe might be important in helping Sunny's mother, do not hesitate to let us know. There will be no judgement within the confinement of this library, only salvation. And the more we know about the situation, the easier it will be for us to assist in Sunny's mother's recovery.

Sunny seems to feel scared now, quietly glancing at the man sitting beside her mother. Her heart pounding faster as his words tell a story she already knew, but awakening the pain inside of her once again. She clenches her fists, holding tightly on the silk of her kimono, silent witness.
17:40:19
Bot/Gelöscht
Esme would simply move her hand towards her beloved shoulder, caressing it as he speaks, not fully understanding the true horror behind his words, but feeling that he needs to be comforted, and so, that's what she tries to provide him, holding his hand with one hand, caressing his shoulder and back with the other.
17:41:32
The soft touch of Esme seems to cause him turmoil in his mind as he desires it but also feels like he is undeserving of it. Hearing the words of the Treant seems to ease him a little as he seems to understand him a little which put him in a better spot for a few seconds before his mind berated him for taking solace in his words. But as the treant desires to hear more, more he would tell. I. I'm not really sure. But occasionally I can hear voices calling for me when the full moon arrives and that's when I usually have my urges and transform into the beast. I thought it had gotten better, there was a time that I had to put myself in chains when I didn't know about my other form. I'm not sure what more I can tell you about it. But ask away and I'll try my best to answer your questions. He lets out a sigh, his eyes looking tired and his mind is probably not at the best place right now.
17:48:03
Sensing Sunny's anguish, Quercus would once again spread his tiny roots towards her palm, gently rubbing it in hopes of providing some relief to her. He would then turn to look at Jin and Esme, taking note of her behaviour towards him. Then patiently listening to his response I see. Well, from what I am looking at right now, and from the little bits you have told me. It appears my first theory is correct. Just in the event Sunny had not informed you, when she first came here with her companions, Lord Aquarius and Askamandra, we had heavily discussed her mother's condition. I then theorized it to be a form of trauma, which it seems, Jin, on that fateful night you went to visit her, it appears you must have triggered something deep within her. Something that she must have kept bottled up all these years. He then looks at Jin, his gentle eyes gazing into his As I speak these words, you must be filled with immense regret, you must have thoughts, such as, I should not have met her, or, this is all my fault. He then turns to Sunny And perhaps, you might feel anger, towards Jin, but as I've told Sunny before, so will I tell you, Jin. Cast these thoughts aside. Dwell not on the past, for it has already happened. Instead, focus on the present, so that we can bring forth, a brighter future. Quercus then leans back into his seat, hoping to ease the tension, before bringing up the next difficult question Well then, Jin. Given my theory, I will need you to recall to the best of your ability, what happened that night. Can you recall something, anything, that might have awakened her trauma? Finding that out will be the first step, in her long road to recovery.
17:57:09
You're right. I probably should not have even associated with her. That's the thought I have. Things would've definitely ended differently. Hah. He lets out an awkward sad chuckle. I have tried, but it is hard when such guilt is after me. I am here to take responsibility for my actions and the consequences of what I've done is saddening me. But I can tell you bits and bits of what I can remember. But my other self, hunted her like prey. Slowly whittling at her mental state by shredding her clothes bit by bit whilst disappearing into the dark to continue to mess with her mind. To give her that question in her mind, when he will come again. My other form also has very pent up desires.. He lets out a long sigh filled with regret as he gazes at the gentle eyes of Quercus.

She simply nods, drawing in another deep breath, before cupping her own cheeks with her hands only to give them a little slap. Focus. The present first. Thanks Quercus, I will treasure your words. And then, when Jin continues talking, she tries her best to remember what stories has her father told to her about her mother. But she realized she knew so little about her... couldn't be of any help there, so she just let Jin proceed down the lane of memories, however hurtful they would be.
18:06:59
He smiles gently at both Sunny and Jin, then hearing what they have to say about Esme, bringing one hand to his chin, rubbing it as he begins to ponder what might have triggered her trauma I see.... Mmm... It seems, that this trauma that Sunny's mother is carrying, might be something of the past. A distant event... He then turns to Sunny Sunny, what do you think? Can you recall any life changing events that might have occurred for your mother? Just try to list out things that might have affected her, even if you do not believe so. Based on Jin's recollection, it appears that she had been "hunted" like a prey to the predator... Perhaps you might recall a similar scenario that might have occurred in your mother's life. He asks, his tiny roots still holding onto her hand, providing some form of encouragement
18:12:43

Sunny's eyes would sadden, as she, holding the tender roots in her palms, confesses the truth. I... I don't know anything about my mother. The only person who does is my father. But he lives so far away that I wouldn't know how to contact him. He has told me stories... but I barely recall them. She mumbles, looking at Quercus. I know that she's been sold to a matriarch as a child to become a geisha. Then, she was sent to a Tea House near my home village. It's there where she met my father. They fell in love and eventually moved to my home village. But she was casted away once giving birth to me. I don't know the details, my mother has never shared them to me, nor did my father, but I just know they were separated for a long time, as long as my life. She explains, while trying to recall anything else that could be of use.
18:17:41
His eyes would look confused as he hears Sunny's words. That was quite different from what Esme had told him about her husband. But he listens closely as he had not heard about the Geisha part. Jin doesn't think that it was a previous trauma that caused her to be in this state rather he caused it by betraying her and hurting her. But it was worth exploring all the options. He glances towards Sunny for a split second before looking at Esme and deciding it wasn't relevant. Quercus.. You said that it was trauma.. Wouldn't it be better for someone who caused that trauma to not be near her..? He says as his heart hurts to see her like this. If he was the cause of it, then should he not leave?
18:23:19
Mmm... He gently nods, listening to Sunny, he then looks at Jin, noticing he had something he wished to say, and noticing how he decided not to speak it out loud I see.... He then turns to Jin, listening to what he has to say Jin... You misunderstand. It was something that had happened in the past, that had hurt Sunny's mother. She must have buried this hurt, in the deepest confines of her heart. Not showing it to anyone, even to her dearest daughter it seems... I can only call what had happened to be a tragedy. Once again, I shall say it. Jin, you were not the cause of her trauma. It appears, your actions that night, had triggered it, perhaps unleashing decades worth of hurt and pain, that Sunny's mother had been bottling up inside her. He then knowingly smiles at Jin Please, remain with us, I believe that you might be the key to Sunny's mother's salvation... There also appears to be something else on your mind.... As I told Sunny, if there's anything that comes to your mind, freely speak it, even if you believe that it might not have any relevance. I believe, there is no such thing as "knowing too much" as some might say...
18:30:16
I understand. He lets out a sigh, it seemed like he was still "needed". If he was not cause of her trauma, then he could only imagine thing that he was told by Esme. But he was not sure whether that was relevant and it would probably come to a shock to Sunny. If.. If you think that'll be the best course of action, I'll oblige and say that Sunny's father Tristan is not here with us anymore. It was from Esme's own words.
18:34:52
Bot/Gelöscht
Sunny listened closely to what Quercus was saying, fighting back against a feeling spreading across her heart. Yes, she thought that Jin shouldn't have been near her mother. She had never felt okay with such union of theirs, as her only wish, her only, simple, childish wish, was to see her mother reunited with her father. She was about to speak her thoughts out loud, when Jin's words were pronounced. He was faster than her. She didn't quite catch the meaning of his words, it took her some time for the information to reach her brain. ... She looked at Jin, eyes full of hatred and disbelief. Did she tell you that when you were hunting her, Jin? A sharp sarcasm coming out of her lips, something no one had ever witnessed, not from Sunny.
18:39:18
Mmm... He gently nods, hearing Jin's reply, a small frown appearing on his face upon his revelation on the fate of Sunny's father, Tristan. He then turned towards Sunny, instinctively predicting her reaction, sensing her anger and disbelief through the tiny roots on her palm. He remains quiet, allowing her to speak her mind. He then taps the table, drawing both Sunny's and Jin's attention before they can even begin their argument Sunny, I can understand that these words, might be the same as needles, striking your heart as you hear them. But remember, remain steadfast. You must face these trials with a brave heart. Do not give in to your anger, remember your true purpose here. He speaks gently with a hint of authority, he then quickly glances at Jin before turning back to Sunny I do not hear a shred of deception in his words. Jin speaks the truth. He declares However, if this conversation is posing to be too difficult for you to handle, I suggest you allow me to speak with Jin in private, for I wish to know more about the fate of your dearest father, Tristan. If you give us your permission, and if you are willing to and would like to hear what Jin has to say, then you may remain seated. But do steel your heart, as his next words might not be what you would like to hear...
18:47:46
Pain in his heart as he saw that face again from Sunny. That face full of hate. It caused his eyes to look away from her. Not wanting to be looked at that way. But sighing and calming himself down. He looks back up to face her. He could remember the sorrow Esme had felt when she had told him about the circumstances. How the pair got much closer that starry night. That's when he made that promise. A solemn look is given to Sunny as his yellow eyes stared into hers. He didn't want her to figure out this way. So he awaited for her answer after hearing the words of the treant.
18:49:08
Bot/Gelöscht
Sunny's mind is quickly descending into pure anger. She lets go of the roots, jumping up from her seat, teeth clenched, as well as her fists, unable to hear the reasoning of the treant, her heart aching so badly at the sole possibility that what he said was the truth. But her mind quickly came up with delusions and tried to soothe such terrible thought. So her eyes pierced into those of the man sitting next to her mother, the man TAKING THE PLACE of her father. Anger, frustration, fear, all poured in her speech. Was it my mother, the woman sitting here with us, or was it that voice that turned you into a ravenous beast? Because from what you've said they sound pretty much the same. And your memories seem foggy. Was it the reality or just your own mind wanting to get rid of the only thing that stops you from becoming my mother's lover? You are truly sick Jin. Your mind is. She sentences before returning sat. She doesn't dare to look at Quercus, nor at her mother, too afraid of finding out the truth behind their eyes. And only because of the respect she holds in this place and the treant's regards she's able to hold back from physically attacking Jin... barely. She's shaking, her body is, aching to do that.
18:53:34
Quercus frowns, hoping that the young and brightful fennec would not reacted in the way she did. He gets up from his chair, walking towards Sunny, then kneeling beside her, his head now on the same height as hers. His gentle eyes gazing into hers, reading all her emotions, her hate, her anger, her fear.... Sunny, please come to your senses. Please, look at your mother He points at her with a root, his arm extended Don't you wish to help her? Don't you wish to bring her back? I understand you might not approve of what might be happening, but you must first relax. Reacting out of hate and anger will not help your mother, nor will it change whatever has happened. Time only marches forward, waiting for no one. Thus, we must seize each moment and make the most out of it. He turns over to Jin, hoping that the man will react more sensibly I'm sorry Jin, but could you please wait at the garden. Just follow this path to the back, and you'll have no trouble finding it. He points, giving you directions to said garden
19:00:47
Seeing Sunny's descent into pure anger. The hatred he could feel coming off from her voice. There was nothing he could say that would appease her, so he gave up and kept quiet as he heard those words of her. She was misunderstanding him completely. Hoping that the Treant would give him a proper chance to explain. But did he really need to, to Sunny? He already had thoughts of disappearing forever, never to be seen after helping Esme regain her normal self. Perhaps hate was a proper emotion one should feel against him even though that is not what happened. With a long sigh, he would look towards Quercus and nodded at him that he was willing to do so.

Sunny struggled to remain still, her eyes avoiding those of the treant, but his words seemed to be unwilling to leave her alone. Alone with her despair, with her anger, with her disbelief. Tears quickly making the world around fade, she raised her eyes on her mother as another realization was striking right through her: she was all that she had left. If what Jin said was true, that only meant that she had to save her mother no matter what. No matter how fierce the demons she was fighting against were. No matter all the pain she would've had to go through. No. None of that was important now. She finally looks back at the treant, tears quickly rolling down her cheeks, one after another, in a neverending race. I... will do... anything... for her. H-he's lying. He must be. Look at how he hurt my mother. He came to destroy my family... Quercus... she sobbed, her entire body shaking. He's here to hurt me... that's all he has done. You can't ask me not to hate him. He wants to replace my father. But he is well... and waiting for me and mom to return... so we can be together... again... like it was meant to be...
19:09:44
The treant nods at Jin, signalling for him to wait at the garden, it appears now would not be a good time for him to be near Sunny. He then turns back to Sunny, hearing her words through her sob, his empathetic heart feeling her hurt, as his heart silently weeps for her as well. He does not reply, but his roots slowly wrap around Sunny, as he slowly pulls her in for a warm embrace. He places one of his hand on her head, gently pressing it against his leafy chest. Contrary to his looks, his hug feels so soft, so warm... so... safe.... He would not utter a word, just keeping Sunny in his embrace, letting her cry her heart out. It was all he could do in this moment. Quercus silently cursing himself, decades, centuries... no... eons of experience under his belt, and even he was not able to shield the young maiden from her pain. But that was nothing but a fleeting thought, remembering his own words, he quickly cast them aside, focusing on what is more important right now Sunny... He says, pulling away from the hug, but his roots still remain on her, he looks at her, shedding a single tear himself as he looks into her teary eyes Sunny... He gently speaks, his voice as gentle as the wind I am here for you. I will help you. Ever since you stepped foot into this library, I could feel it, there is something special within you. You are a young lady, destined for greatness. Do not give in to despair. I hope that my words can help you regain your strength, and your courage. He gives you a warm smile As I said before, your mother's rehabilitation will be a long process. I believe that this is sufficient for today, I have understood the bigger picture. For now, I suggest that we rest. If you'd like, we could talk about your insecurities in private. Perhaps I could help comfort them, and give you the courage needed to face them. But for now, I think a warm dinner is needed, and proper rest. Shall we continue this discussion tomorrow? My dearest comrade?

She was pulled in into the surprisingly warm embrace of the treant. Invited to let it all out. And out she let it, crying, but silently. That was a kind of pain that no screams were able to tell or soothe. She just let herself lay limp into that embrace, every kind of strength abandoning her, her eyes wide open, tears coming out so easily, so naturally. Fighting them was no use. She just had realized that. So, as the dear treant welcomed her in, she embraced that pain, that suffering, her body only replying in what could've been a very poor externation of her sadness. Not nearly close to what she was feeling in that moment. Using her sleeves to wipe away the tears, after taking her sweet time to let it out, hidden into the treant's arms, safe there with him as her only witness, she gave him a sad smile. ... The sun will raise. It always does. She whispered, before nodding, accepting to simply be put to his much needed cares.
19:28:20
The treant smiles at Sunny, sensing that she had finally returned to him Very well then, dinner will be served shortly. As for Jin... I believe it is better for the two of you not to meet. I shall go meet him in the garden. I shall provide him with a meal and a place to rest. Of course, he will be staying in a different room, and then, we shall reconvene once again tomorrow, if you are ready for it. He stands up and gives a deep bow Now then, I shall leave you to your dearest mother, you are free to browse the library if you'd like. But the trees shall deliver dinner back onto this table when it is ready, and you know where the guest chambers are. Now then, if you'll excuse me, I wish you a peaceful night. He says, giving another deep bow then walking towards the garden, where he would meet Jin, greeting him with a warm smile You have done well, my friend. What had just happened must be painful for you, but you've remained strong. You faced them valiantly, young friend. For that, I commend you. He gently pats Jin's shoulder I have discussed with Sunny, we shall take a break for today. I've advised for you to not meet her until tomorrow, if she is willing. I will provide you with dinner, and a place to rest, as it is getting late, and you will need the energy again for tomorrow. What do you say, dear friend?
19:34:59
He would glance towards the Treant. It seemed like Jin had made himself comfortable in the garden as he would lie on the ground, looking up towards the sky. Perhaps he was contemplating, sorting his thoughts. Though he did not show it, he was a little hurt from seeing Sunny's hate for him even though just a few days ago she would flash that bright smile towards him. Listening the words of the Treant seemed to comfort him slightly. But he was not one that needed to be comforted, atleast in his own mind. He was the culprit here after all. He was the one that caused grief. With a simple dull smile, he would get back up to face the treant. There's no need to call me a friend. I am quite grateful for your offer, but I'm not entirely feeling hungry. I think it would be best for me to take my leave and come back the next day. I need to sort out my own thoughts and I can do that in my own place.

Very well then, I will not deny your wishes. You know the way to this library, I shall wait for your return tomorrow. He smiles at Jin, taking a deep bow Well then, may our paths cross again, and I pray that the morning sun will bring you the guidance that you need. I shall return to Sunny, as she will be staying the night. Once again, you have done well today, Jin. I do hope that tomorrow will bring us even more opportunities, I pray that we will be able to help Sunny and her mother. Well then, you must be tired from such a long day. Please rest well tonight, and we shall see each other again tomorrow. He gives Jin one last smile, then turning back, returning to his library, where he would catch up with Sunny and her mother, who appear to be having their dinner. They would make small talk, as Quercus informed Sunny of Jin's decision to leave for the night to return tomorrow. He would eventually lead them into the guest chambers, allowing them a peaceful night's sleep within the walls of The Verdant Athenaeum, as Quercus himself closes the library for the night, returning into his own chambers nestled deep underground, below the flooring of the library, where he would ponder today's events, before drifting off into sleep, awaiting the rising sun of the next day
