Officially, Monica arrives as part diplomat, part cultural envoy, intending to explore potential Indian-American adult-entertainment ventures, so the brits unofficially, Britain has given her another assignment, to retrieve Harrison.
Monica carries sealed British instructions making it clear that Harrison is expected to return to British service. His continued refusal may eventually result in him being regarded as insubordinate or even a deserter.
So, rather than allowing the matter to turn into an international incident, Vanessa agrees to settle the dispute through a match against Monica.
If Vanessa wins: Monica honours the agreement and leaves Harrison in the Queendom. However, she warns Vanessa that Britain will not continue sending intermediaries forever. Vanessa has won the immediate confrontation, but the British now increasingly views her as the woman keeping one of its generals from returning home.
If Vanessa loses: Monica technically earns the right to return Harrison to British authority. Harrison, however, refuses to willingly leave Vanessa. Monica does not force the matter immediately, but Harrison’s refusal transforms the situation from an ambiguous romantic scandal into outright defiance of British orders, and all this while VV's Queendom is taking notes
