Julian's movie career was failing, and this seemed like a seedy way to make some money between gigs. His last film was a cult hit, but after a couple of DUIs and assault charges (he swears it was self defense, a paparazzi surprised him while buying cocaine). Though his past is 'checkered,' by all intents and purposes he's 'working on it' though some might argue the only thing he's ever worked on in life was how not to get caught next time.
