She had managed to wipe her name from most books before the last time she'd been banished, finally receiving the certainty that she wouldn't have to make bargains with lecherous apes to have any modicum of fun. But, it came at a cost, of course. She had to make her own way to the mortal world and with the time it was taking to find her way there... things had grown quite boring. It was on one such boring day that she noticed a distortion in the veil. The distortion seemed to shift and writhe as though it were living. She'd not seen such a thing before, at least not in her corner of hell. It was a bit unsettling, seeing something so new, strange and clearly powerful. But more than that, it was exciting. The veil was thin in so many places in this... anomaly. It was easy for her to rip her way inside, like ripping through tissue paper. She wondered what she'd find on the other side. Perhaps she could enslave whoever had made it, then she'd be able to come and go from our reality as she saw fit!
But even for demons, perhaps especially for demons. Dreams often lead one to their downfall. She stepped right into the bedchamber of a great, horned woman who radiated power like she'd never seen. She thought to challenge her, to try and claim this power for her own, but only briefly. Enraged at having her bedchamber invaded. The woman simply pointed at Syn and the demon had her power to harm stripped away. She was then at the mercy of the woman, who seemed to grow to match her own impressive demonic stature... only to match. As if to show the great demon the difference in their power. Syn was forced to plead for mercy, humiliated... but more than that... she was in awe. This wasn't some rock-paper-scissors matchup between herself and a mortal cleric with power tuned specifically to harm and banish her. She'd been stripped almost bare in an instant by raw, unadulterated might. She had found a new Master to serve, one who would allow her to venture between this world and her own. It wasn't quite freedom, but it was the closest thing to it she had ever known. Over time, she grew protective, possessive of the woman who had not only saved her, but given her a version of the life she wanted that she could accept. She'd watch from the walls in the Labyrinth... waiting for those who sought the horned woman. She would brand them with her mark to show her Mistress her loyalty was unbroken...
