Sunny leads you inside the Shrine. The empty and dark halls give off a different mood than usual. You've been there so many times, but you have never seen the Shrine like that. As if all the crowd, the light, the joy usually spreading around the buidling, had faded away. Such sight saddens you. Come, she's sleeping in her room.
Sunny shakes you from the flow of your thoughts, leading the way. It's like you're stepping on the image of yourself following Esme into her room that night. But things are so much different now...

It felt different, and he knew why. It was because of him. He is at fault. He could only hope that this would not last for a long time. He hoped that they would bounce back stronger after he was no longer here. It was sad. But what could he do but face the consequences and face he would as he followed Sunny right behind. His eyes darting left and right as he took a good look on his surroundings that felt so unfamiliar to him. The words of Sunny shakes his train of thought as he would look back up to her with a nod. Understanding that they were almost there. His heart was beating faster, and the guilt started to boil inside of him. He felt like a lump was stuck on his throat as he felt more nervous by the second to face what he had done. It had gone so perfectly prior the incident. The smiles, the teasing and the laughters. The images playing in his head were so pleasant, yet seemed so distant now.

Sunny stops in front of a door you're so familiar with. Behind that door, you imagine your beloved sleeping, peaceful, like she had fallen asleep in your arms that night. Such a pleasant, yet hurtful image, knowing now what would happen next. As the shrine maiden swings the door open, a dim light spreads into the dark room. It is everything like you remember, you feel like it was a lifetime ago when you entered that room with her. But it was just two days ago. You can't help but give a sad chuckle to the thought of how suddenly a quiet, happy life can change and turn into a nightmare. But it was no nightmare. It was the reality. You hear Sunny gasping after a few seconds of silence. ...! Mother...?
She calls for her, but when your eyes take a better look inside of the bedroom, you notice that Esme is actually not there. At this point, your mind starts playing tricks on you, flashing the worst scenarios into your mind.

It was heart wrenching that a night that good could go so wrong. The night would've been remembered as one of the best, but now it looked like it was one of the worst nights. An aching pain on his heart would make him grimace as he looked at the dark room filled with memories of that night. There was nothing he could do infront of such sadness but to let out a chuckle. He could only hope that he would be able to ever make up for it. If he was given one more chance, perhaps he would've done things differently. But it was mere delusions. Hearing the sudden gasp of Sunny makes him wake up from his thoughts as he looks around the room. Not smelling the familiar loving smell of Esme around here. Where had she gone? His mind was coming up with all kinds of scenarios and his heart was starting to beat much faster than before. Panicking he would step into the room to look every nook and cranny if there were any clues to see. Esme?!

Sunny was just as alarmed as you. Once it was clear that Esme was not into her room, she stepped out without saying anything, nor asking you to follow. Too concerned about her mother, she started looking around inside the Shrine, checking into every room, calling for her, horrible scenarios emerging inside her mind just like it was similarly happening to you. But before you could leave Esme's bedroom a thought crosses your mind. You might know where se went... but would have the strength to go back there, where the tragedy was consumed? Where Esme, your beloved, was consumed.

His mind calming down ever so slightly as he notices that there had been no forced entry nor a struggle. There was only one place that he felt that she would be in. Taking a deep breath as he realizes where he needs to be. That place where it occurred.. Where he did that to her. It was painful to remember, it was terrifying to see what he had done and that place would remind him of it all of what he was guilty of. Shaking his head, he turns around and takes a determined step. Needing to see this to the end and take responsibility. It was time to confront himself as he walked out from the Shrine and looked towards the trees where he knew he could find her in. Memories of the incident flashes by his mind as he is plagued by it. Nonetheless, he walks slowly with each step becoming harder to take. The lump in his throat becoming bigger and bigger. It becomes harder to breathe but he continues and walks forward intending to see his beloved and eventually he found himself in that place where it happened.

Sat under a tree, Esme was staring into the void, that expression without emotion of hers feeling like a stab in your gut. She's still so beautiful... in her white night dress, clean face, long snow white hair gently falling along her shoulders and back. But he had already knew it was her. Only she could be so beautiful while caressing the grass. How could he have done such a thing to this woman after what she had given him, what she had told him and what she was willing to do for him. Taking that final step felt hard, it was like immovable chains binding his body. He was not ready at all. He can't.. He wanted to leave and no longer cause her any harm.. But the breeze felt like it was pushing him forward. Telling him to reach out. But it was so damned hard.. He felt like he was getting much more restrained by the second until eventually he remembered his promise to her as he took a step forward with his hand reaching towards her. His step making noise.

She whispered, looking up at you. Those yellow eyes, hiding so many secrets, all for her to get lost among them. He could hear her voice just by a single look. He remembered how she would call his name and each time she had done so. It made him feel nice, and secure. Meeting those empty orange eyes of hers makes his heart hurt knowing that he was responsible for that look. But as he saw those eyes of hers slowly coming back to life. The shine it was stark contrast to his eyes that had disappeared after seeing that fearful look of Sunny earlier. He could not help himself to be excited to be near her, to be embraced as he naturally would open his arms to welcome her. But he knew that this wasn't the Esme he adored.. this was but a shell of her former shell.. but even so, just having him near him had such a calming effect as her voice felt like music to him. He looked deep into her eyes as he embraced her back knowing this might be one of the last times that he'll ever be able to feel this. Esme..I'm.. so sorry..

But he knew that the best option would be for him to take her back with him to the Shrine and to wait for the supposed time to go to the treant that Sunny had mentioned. As much as he would have loved to stay like this for awhile. He couldn't. He had a goal, and he was going to fulfill it first as he would suddenly hoists Esme into his arms intending to carry her like a princess back to the Shrine. Not wanting to stay in this abominable place where he had hurt her.
