Ava was never a smart child. In school, she failed each class despite trying her hardest. Nothing sticks; she's stupid. Not even her appearance was enough to make others want to befriend her. Later in life (much later than one would expect) Ava realized she could right her wrongs using them. Ava does have dignity, but is too stupid to be conscious of it.
