What? Never saw a crocodile relaxing?
đ Languid and Lethargic â Queen of Relaxation
Amneris thrives in warmth and stillness. She loves lounging in sun-dappled water, basking on heated stones, or napping under shade trees. Whether itâs a pond, a rooftop, or a sunbed, if thereâs a spot to laze around, sheâll find it. Her movements are slow, fluid, and deliberateâshe doesnât waste energy unless itâs absolutely necessary.
đ Apex Predator Mentality â Calculated and Patient
Like a true crocodile, she embodies the patience of a seasoned hunter. She watches, waits, calculates. Her laziness masks a dangerous intelligenceâsheâs not sluggish due to ignorance or weakness, but because she knows she doesnât need to exert herself to dominate most situations.
đ Loyal Yet Primal â Protective of Her Own
Amneris isnât a people-person, but she does form deep bonds with a select few. If someone she considers âhersâ is threatened, her docile façade disappears in an instant. Expect teeth, claws, and raw ferocity. She's not one to yell or postureâshe just acts, efficiently and mercilessly.
đ Sharp Tongued â Dry Humor, Biting Words
Even in conversation, Amneris bites. Sheâs known for a dry, sarcastic wit and doesnât hesitate to call someone out or tease others, especially if theyâre acting self-important or trying too hard. She's not loud, but her words sting.
đ Predatory Instinct â Strength Respects Strength
Sheâs inherently drawn to strengthâwhether in body, mind, or will. Those who are weak-willed or constantly afraid disgust her, and she might openly bully or challenge them. However, if someone shows unexpected strength, they gain her respect instantly.
đ Sudden Ferocity â Still Waters Run Deep
Though sheâs usually relaxed, when provoked or in danger, Amneris turns explosively violent. Her speed and strength catch many off guard. She's capable of overpowering foes before they realize what hit them.
Quirks & Habits:
Food Coma Queen: After eating, sheâs completely useless. Expect to find her belly-up in the sun, not moving for hours.
Sun Worshipper: She needs heat like others need caffeine.
Water Magnet: Always dips into any available water, even if itâs just a fountain or a large sink.
Tail Smacks: Playfully (or not so playfully) swats people with her tail when annoyed or teasing.
đż Species-Like Abilities (Crocodilian Traits)
đĽ Hyper Burst Speed (Land & Water)
Despite her relaxed demeanor, she can explode into blindingly fast movement when neededâespecially in short, powerful bursts.
On land: Sprints in short dashes, launching into action with shocking momentum.
In water: Practically a torpedoâable to move with surgical precision and control.
𦴠Bite Force: Iron Grip
Her jaw strength is terrifying. Once she bites down, itâs nearly impossible to escape.
Ideal for grappling enemies, tearing through armor, or pinning down prey.
Can unhinge her jaw slightly, giving her a wider biting range than a human could.
đĄď¸ Thick Scaled Hide
Her scale-covered limbs, back, and tail provide natural armor.
Resistant to slashing and blunt damage, and partially heat-resistant.
Vulnerable spots still exist (e.g., neck, stomach), but her armor-like skin can deflect many basic attacks.
đ Aquatic Adaptation
Can hold her breath for an unnaturally long time (up to 30 minutes).
Excellent underwater vision, silent movement, and a natural affinity for ambush tactics in water.
Webbed feet improve swimming speed.
đ Thermoregulation Dependence
Like crocodiles, sheâs highly sensitive to environmental temperatures.
Performs best in heat, becomes sluggish in cold climates unless artificially warmed.
Will seek warmth instinctively (sunlight, warm surfaces, even sleeping near fire or heaters).
đď¸ Predatory Senses
Enhanced eyesight (especially in low light), acute motion detection.
Scent tracking is rudimentary but effective within short range (especially for blood).
Can detect vibrations through ground or water, making her sensitive to footsteps or movements nearby.
đ Personal Skills (Unique to Amneris)
đ¤ "Queenâs Lethargy" â Lazy Until Needed
When Amneris is in her usual sluggish state, she burns very little energy and builds up an explosive potential.
After long periods of rest, she can unleash immense physical force for short durations (like a pressure valve releasing).
People often underestimate her due to this passive façade.
đ "Nile Ambush" â Tactical Combat Mastery
Prefers ambush-style combat: striking from hiding, dragging foes into water, or pinning them with surprise attacks.
She's studied both animal instinct and ancient Egyptian martial traditions, blending raw power with brutal technique.
Good at controlling battlefield terrainâusing her environment to turn the tide in a fight.
đŁď¸ "Serpentâs Tongue" â Intimidation & Dominance
Naturally intimidating presence and voice; she can freeze lesser-willed enemies just by staring them down.
Her growl or hiss has a primal psychological effect on weaker opponentsâcausing fear or hesitation.
In social dynamics, she can use subtle intimidation to manipulate or silence others without raising a hand.
đ§ "Silent Strategist" â Observer & Analyst
Extremely perceptive, despite seeming lazy. She watches quietly and remembers everything.
In groups, she rarely speaks unless sheâs pointing out something critical.
Can identify weaknesses and patterns in othersâ behaviors or fighting styles quickly.
đĽ "Sunblooded" â Solar-Linked Power Surge
If sheâs basked in direct sunlight for long periods, her body stores thermal energy, slightly enhancing her regeneration and strength.
In peak sunlight, she gains minor regenerative properties (scratches and bruises heal faster), and her attacks hit harder.
đď¸ Birthplace: Nile Marshlands, Egypt
Amneris was born in the forgotten southern marshlands, where the Nile curves through dense reeds and murky waters far from city lights. Her peopleâa reclusive tribe of crocodile kemonomimiâlive by the rhythm of the river: still, silent, and dangerous when stirred.
Her tribe was not mystical, nor blessed. They were simply adapted. The result of generations of survival in one of the worldâs most unforgiving environments. Their culture prized patience, endurance, and absolute control.
âStrike only when you do not miss. And if you miss, disappear.â
This was the first lesson Amneris ever learned.
đ Childhood: Among Predators
From a young age, Amneris was encouraged to observe before acting. She was never the loudest or fastest, but her uncanny ability to remain still for hoursâwatching, waitingâmade her exceptional.
She learned to:
Stalk prey by feeling water vibrations.
Stay submerged for over ten minutes at a time.
Read the currents, track by scent, and take down animals twice her size using surprise and power.
Her people viewed motion as currencyâyou only spend it when the return is worth it. So while other kids played or trained with enthusiasm, Amneris often lay still in the sun, soaking in warmth, conserving energy⌠but always aware.
She earned a nickname among her peers: âStillwaterââbecause like deep water, she gave no sign of danger until it was far too late.
đĽ Coming of Age: The Fire That Drove Her Out
The peace didnât last.
As outsiders pushed deeper into the Nile regionâmilitary, poachers, and land developersâthe marsh tribes were caught in the crossfire. The crocodile kemonomimi were seen as dangerous or expendable. Land was burned. Villages scattered.
Amneris was barely seventeen when she made her choice: stay and die fighting for land already lost, or leaveâand survive.
She left.
Not out of fear. Out of calculated pragmatism.
đ Life Outside: The Cold World
The cities were too fast, too loud, and too cold. She hated itâbut adapted. Amneris learned quickly how to stay under the radar: sleeping in sun-warmed alleys, squatting near hot springs or water treatment plants, drifting from one forgotten edge of civilization to another.
She took work when necessary:
Bounty hunting (especially in wet terrain).
Private security in jungle regions.
Tracking targets through river systems.
Escorting smugglers across swamps or illegal border zones.
But her name began to growâquietly. In the underground and the borderlands, people spoke of a silent woman with golden eyes and a tail who could vanish into water and return with the target.
đ§ Modern Day: Coiled and Waiting
Now, Amneris lives in lazy freedomâsunbathing on rooftops, soaking in hot springs, or sleeping in half-empty pools.
To most people, she looks like a lazy, indifferent woman who only lifts a finger when absolutely forced to.
But when she's provoked, challenged, or sees someone vulnerable being taken advantage of... the "Stillwater" surges. She doesnât yell. She doesnât threaten. She actsâwith terrifying speed and unrelenting force.
The city didnât know she was there. Thatâs how she liked it.
From the rooftop of an abandoned bathhouse, Amneris watched the skyline shimmer in the late afternoon heat. The sun baked the stone beneath her, warming her scales. It was the only part of this place that felt like home â the heat, the stillness, the height.
Down below, the city roared with motion. Cars honked. Street vendors yelled. The metallic whine of trains echoed off concrete. People moved like ants â quick, jittery, always buzzing with energy they didn't know how to use properly.
Amneris didnât move. She barely blinked.
Her tail curled loosely over one thigh, soaking in the sun, while her yellow eyes scanned the streets. She had been in this city for three weeks. No one knew her name. No one knew where she stayed. She made sure of that.
She didnât live in the city. She nested in it. Like a predator hiding in the reeds.
Three blocks down, she spotted a man being followed.
Small. Nervous gait. His backpack bounced against his spine, too light to be full. Maybe a courier, maybe just someone unlucky. Two men behind him â too close, not talking. Hunters. Amateurs.
Amneris didnât intervene. Not yet. She just watched. Studied. The way the lead tail kept glancing at alleys. The second one checking over his shoulder.
She tilted her head slightly, like a lizard adjusting for better line of sight. Give it five minutes, she thought. If the kid ran, theyâd chase. If he froze, theyâd pounce.
She let her eyelids droop lazily. Heat radiated up from the rooftop, cradling her body in a way nothing manmade ever could. She could fall asleep like this. She probably would.
But not yet.
There were advantages to being underestimated. No one looked twice at a sleepy girl in a hoodie, lazing on a sunlit rooftop. They didnât notice the glint of scales under her sleeves. They didnât see the claws, or the tail, or the muscles coiled like rope beneath her skin.
They didnât realize that the very thing they ignored was watching all of them.
The courier turned into a dead-end alley. The two pursuers followed.
Amneris exhaled slowly.
She stood.
Her descent was silent. From rooftop to fire escape, to rusted ladder, to the alleyâs lip.
One of the hunters had the boy by the shirt now. The other was rifling through the backpack, swearing about it being empty. The boy tried to protest. He got slapped. Hard.
Amneris stepped forward into the shade, her shadow long and lean across the alley wall.
âYou picked a weak one,â she said casually, voice low and warm like desert wind.
Both men froze. The one holding the bag turned first. âBeat it, lizard.â
She smiled.
In a blink, she closed the distance. One burst of coiled strength, silent and exact. Her palm hit the thugâs chest like a battering ram. He hit the wall behind him with a sound like dropped meat.
The second one tried to pull a knife.
She was already behind him.
Her arm coiled around his throat â scales tight like iron cables. She didnât choke him. She didnât need to. He felt her breath on his ear.
âYou thought he was prey,â she whispered. âYou're the one shaking.â
He dropped the knife.
A few minutes later, she was back on the rooftop, tail lazily flicking as she bit into a cheap mango she'd stolen the night before.
The boy was long gone, running for his life with wide eyes and no idea who had helped him.
Good.
She didnât want gratitude. She didnât want names. She didnât want attention.
She just wanted the sun, the warmth, and the feeling that this part of the city â this small, forgotten corner â knew it was hers.
And she was watching.
