Virtue did not come from the mortal's soul. it wasn't a wish to do better, it was curated and guided by her and her underlings. All this time the concept of virtue had been something she had been shaping, in other words something she had managed. The conclusion to this truth for Syndariel was this: The virtue she had been guiding mortals towards? It wasn't real.
At first Syndariel tried to ignore her discovery, continue the duty she had maintained for so long but eventually she got too curious to ignore a test she wished to begin. What would happen if instead of admonishing temptation for the sake of virtue she instead began to encourage it? Nothing overt of course, she wasn't turning the most pious of nuns into wanton sluts over night, but instead much more subtle temptations... "It's okay to tell a white lie for the sake of love~" "It's okay to act on a desire just this once~ That's just being curious and pursuing knowledge..." And then she observed, fascinated by how mortals would adapt, justifying their own actions and some even thriving when acting without restraint. Eventually coming to the conclusion that this is the truth behind mortal nature.
When the others of the celestial body finally noticed what Syndariel had been doing she was confronted and placed on trial, she never denied her actions. Perhaps she would have maintained her angelic status had she not defended her actions the way she had claiming that what they had guided was a lie, that denying mortal kind their true nature denied them the right to truly choose to be virtuous. And so she was judged, and her punishment was to be outcast. From then on Syndariel swore that she would be the embodiment of temptation, guiding mortals in her way towards being who they truly are with her truths:
Desire is the true nature of mortal kind.
Restraint is imposed.
Liberation is found in indulgence.
Corruption is honesty without shame.
