I clomped over the rickety flooring to the stove, moving the pot off of the heated top and setting it on top of a small wooden counter above a set of cabinets. I also pulled out a metal ladle, plopping it into the pot and setting the bowls down. I scooped a healthy amount of the stew into each bowl and ducked back down to pull some spoons from the cabinet. I shut the cabinet doors and put one spoon in each bowl, before carting them both over to the table.

Not sure what to do on my own now, I grabbed a few unsplit logs and carried them over to an outdoor firepit. I tossed them into the pit and pulled out a piece of flint from the pouch on my leg. I slipped a large knife out of a loop on my belt, and struck the flint at some of the charcoal underneath the logs. The coal eventually lit up, catching the rest of the fuel within the firepit and creating a steady blaze.
