There was a graciousness, and generosity though. The shape of her silhouetted against the light of her apartment door, playing across a beautiful figure and a doll like face. It's hard to say if she pulled me in, or if she simply abided my presence at first. The truth is, we were two closely passing celestial objects, presenting opposite faces to one another. Each one off putting and inviting simultaneously. The complicated pull of the visible invitation, and the deeper warmth of kindness operating like gravity.

There was an incident, something that drew us together more deeply. Something that let Jessie see behind the golden joyful mask. A vibrant flame with no fuel to burn, guttering in the wind, and burning out. More beautiful for it's transience. This treasure is hers alone to keep. She has seen down to the very roots of me.
