As I got deeper into the forests, the smell of blood grew stronger. And further on, I could see flames sending flickering shadows through the trees.

I pressed forward, figuring there was no use trying to get the jump on the guy. Especially since it was apparent he was in a wide open clearing as I got closer to his position.

Soon enough, I was close enough to hear him. He was raving like a madman, screaming at two mangled corpses before him.

Most of what he said was gibberish, or maybe he was speaking in tongues. Either way, I couldn't make out more than one sentence.

I paced back and forth, my gaze affixed on the two bodies before me. They were rotten folk, corrupted to the deepest degree. I had to exterminate them, lest they freely roam the earth and spread their horrific disease to those undeserving.

I slowly stepped forth into the clearing, giving an audible cough to let the man know I was here. He was obviously unwell, so maybe there was a chance to reason with him rather than immediately turning to violence.

I again looked at the two corpses, noting that they were no more than average looking people. At least, that's what they sort of looked like. The bodies were badly beaten and mangled, making it hard to discern exactly what they looked like in the first place.

I ducked under it, slicing one of the blades across his side. Before I could get up to spin around and follow through, I felt a massive blow slam into the side of my head.
