It was true, as he was a very educated man, so educated in fact, that he enjoyed calling scholars from all over Savarra to ask them questions none could answer in order to flaut his wit and shame their reputation.

Of course, he himself did not know the answer, but by his asking of the question, everyone assumed that he knew it – or was too cowed by this station to suggest otherwise. So happy was he with his his scheme that he issued a proclamation.

The Sultan had enough of being made a fool by this no-name stranger, doubly so in front of his court. With the whispers running through the lords and ladies of the catfolk, he knew that the story would spread – and there was nothing he could do to contain it. But at least he could make an example of this stranger who had dared to shame him this way.

“Guards!” the Sultan cried! “Seize this cretin!” Before anyone could lay a hand on the stranger, though, the rags fell away from his body, and the catfolk was now a very vulpine and handsome man. As gasps ran through the court and many sought to prostrate themselves before Keros, the Trickster stepped up to the Sultan and gave the lord of the catfolk a mocking bow.

But always remember that there are always those more clever than you.” With a laugh, the Trickster vanished from sight, but that was not the last of it. When the Sultan letter checked on his treasury, it had been utterly and completely emptied of all the wealth of Jassira.
