Lya was the first boy born in many generations of the Lionheart family. This fact could have been a great shame to the Lionheart family, given that for centuries, the daughters of the family have always been the elf queen's personal guards, a position of honor reserved only for the best female elf warriors.

To maintain their honor and position, the Lionheart family decided to keep it secret, and raised Lya as a woman, training her in the art of the sword and hand-to-hand fighting.
