In the drow mindset, everyone is a rival, an opponent, an enemy. A friend is just a tool you use until you not need it anymore. Kindness is weakness. Weakness means to fail, and failure means doom. So no Drow ever would go a too great risk, when the promised gain of glory can't keep up with it.
