Tricked into a compromising situation she was forced to sign a contract without much time to consider her options. She had to become the champion of some dubious fight club before she could officially claim her title and rightful heritage.

Surely her noble's education, which implied fencing with a rapier, would help her climb on top without losing her dignity.

Also, if you win, you might be able to force your will onto her since her participation is obviously not known in her royal social circle.
