The drive passes in no time at all such is the beautiful company and the joyous nature of our being near each other. Every endeavour always one filled with the potential of joy, light and love, always the chance for us to just enjoy us such a simple thing, but one which often means so much. Arriving at the location I had in mind, it's only a few minutes walk through the winding trees and wildflower strewn paths before the clearing opens out in front of us. The snow capped mountains obscuring the low morning sun as it begins to rise, casting shadows that cool the valley and paint a masterpiece in the mirror surface of the winding river. Hugged tightly through the valley by the winding banks, it is a sight I have had the privilege of gazing upon many times, but to do so now with the woman I love in the foreground. Is something else entirely.
"Go stand by the wall baby, you get a much better look of the valley from there and I can take a much better photo," voice light with joy and adoration as you do. The photo is indeed beautiful.
And for a long time I just let the camera hang around my neck to look at you. No words, just quiet adoration and a smile which tells of that very love. My storm grey eyes cast about me in search of somewhere to place down the camera and finally settle upon a stump. I head over to it and begin to tweak the settings so that I have enough time to join you, to have a photo of us together and while doing so, catch your view drifting back over towards the river. Watching you once more, completely in love.
"I'll be there in a moment, my love. Just fiddling....with....the....settings....got it!"
Excitedly, I rise and head to join you, quiet as I approach, finding a spot along the wall to pose. Lowering myself down to one knee as I speak again, one hand behind my back as your eyes meet mine and we smile in that way as lovers do
"Tina?"
I bring my hand forward, opening it to reveal a small box, already opened. A delicate ring sitting upon a pillow, the diamond set into the socket catching the sun just perfectly as the camera goes off. My words captured in the stillness of the image
"Will you marry me?"
