Small Camp in the Forest

I awoke slowly, sluggishly sitting myself up under the tent. I could feel the pleasant warmth of the sun surrounding me, easing me into the start of the day.

I clumsily felt around for my things, before a small nudge came from my side. It was Yuna, who had woken up at the same time as I did. I reached out blind, holding my hand out for my eye covering. Yuna gently dropped it from her beak to my hand, and I slipped it around my head. I tied it snug over my eyes, adjusting as I began to see through Yuna's eyes.

I gave her a delicate pat on the head, before stretching out with a soft yawn. I reached for my clothes, beginning to slip on my travelling outfit. Afterwards, I slipped on my gloves and my boots, making sure my fingers were snug in the gloves and the laces of my boots tied tightly.

I slipped out of my makeshift tent, again stretching my limbs as I got to my feet.

You suddenly hear a voice behind a tree, but can't seem to catch a glimpse of the person speaking, as he sits behind the tree Morning... Seems you are awake...

Yuna quickly flew to my shoulder, as I spun around towards where the voice came from.

I silently directed Yuna to circle the tree. She leaped from my shoulder circling around to the other side to keep a clear view of you.

I just sit on the floor, back against the tree, a knee slightly lifted with one of my arms resting on it Interesting owl you got there

I remained still, not speaking for a moment as I studied the stranger through Yuna's eyes. "...Who are you?" I finally spoke, in a rather soft tone of voice.

I remain in that position, my gaze on the owl Just someone... trying to enjoy the nature around this area.... Or would you like something more specific?

"No, that will do."

I let out a small whistle, Yuna swooping back down past the tree to re-mount on my shoulder.

I turned to resume my previous duties, stoking a fire in a pit I had fashioned the previous night. I gathered up some provisions, preparing a basic meal for myself and Yuna.

I take a deep breath, as the air goes through my lungs Are you not worried of potential attacks during your sleep? What if I were a bad person trying to hurt you?

"I would know." I replied bluntly, still keeping a soft and proper tone.

I got the fire to steady, as I prepared a small tincture in a metal cup over the fire. Meanwhile, I set out some food for Yuna which she eagerly hopped off my shoulder for.

It seemed like you weren't able to notice me.

"Do you have ill-intent with me?"

After the tincture boiled, I carefully poured it into a small glass bottle and hooked it from a leather belt wrapped around my travelling garments.

I take a nearby tree branch in my hand and start break it in the middle out of boredom What do you think? Do you think I would be talking to you like this if I were here to hurt you?

"That is why I took no notice to your presence."

I picked from the food I had gotten out, nibbling at a handful of berries I had foraged with Yuna the previous day.

So if I had ill-intent you would notice me during your sleep?

"Yuna would."

I unhooked a canteen from my belt, unscrewing the cap and taking a small sip from the reserve of water.

I stand up, brush some dirt and leafs off my jacket. I lean against the tree with my gaze getting drawn on your, my eyes instantly noticing the eye covering So what brings you into these woods...?

"I was investigating some ruins yesterday. Now we are resting."

"After Yuna finishes eating, we will return home."

my gaze is still on the covering, before his curiosity takes the better of me What's the thing with your eye covering... Can you even see anything through that?

"In a sense, yes."

"I see what Yuna sees."

"So long as I wear this, her eyes are also mine."

"There are things I can see on my own, but nothing conventional. We synergize, I suppose."

Interesting... Is that like a thing between the two of you or does it have something to do with the covering?

"The covering simply helps focus the ability."

"If my eyes were exposed, there'd be too much else overwhelming me."

"The breeze, the sun..."

"So on and so forth."

Hmm... cool stuff, I guess it can be handy having something like that...

I nodded, finishing up alongside Yuna. I hooked my canteen back on my belt, as Yuna started flying around to tidy up the bits and pieces of the campsite that she could manage.

I'm not sure if you can feel it, but does it make you dizzy, seeing you from a different perspective...?

"At first."

I slid the gloves off my hands, pointing the palm of my hands out towards the fire. Small, white wisps of delicate light swirled around the fire and delicately snuffed it out.

I slid my gloves back on, before gathering up any supplies I had strewn about into a small satchel that was attatched to the back of my belt.

For the larger things like the makeshift tent, I gathered it into a larger bag that was slung around my shoulder.

I just stare quite impressed of this person and owl in front of my eyes Always surprises me what interesting things in this world exist...

"I share the same sentiment."

Yuna carried what she had gathered to me, which I tucked away in the satchel on my belt.

She landed up on my shoulder, nuzzling my neck. I returned her nuzzle, before orienting myself within the forest.

Yuna cooed, and I turned to look at her. I nodded in response, as if the owl had spoken to me directly.

I then turned to face a specific way, before beginning to trudge off in a graceful stride.

Safe travels then... I turn around walking into the other direction

(think ill call it here, just doing some small rooms for this character every once in a while to get him established
