The Tavern of light and song
The tavern in question is old and full of what can only be described as character. From the ceiling the lamps of royal blues and emerald greens hang proudly. Behind the bar itself there sits the image that has served as its logo for some time. The twinned heart. An homage to the paladin whom accompanied the bard as she travelled the world. Upon returning to the city, settling became the aim and it was together that they chose to stay. The signs under the heart reads simply as 'The Jester's Folly'. A name taken from a shared friend and his many misdeeds and there amongst the lights, the songs and drunken revelry stands the conductor in chief. With a quicksilver wink and a smile which says 'Been a while, come on over and we'll see you sorted', Shani Robbins can be found
A pleasant exchange ensues and before you realise it, you're several drinks deep and many coin lighter. Yet the company is great, how could one possibly mind? The drink has loosened your tongue and upon enquiring about the name of the bar and its history, she grins wide and pulls her lute from off the stand and begins to play
🎵 “Welcome to The Jesters Folly” 🎵
Come one, come all, ye weary folk, and lend an ear to me,
For I'll sing a tale of friendship's bond, for all the world to see.
'Tis a legend of a jester bold, whose wit was sharp and keen,
The funniest fool in all the land, the best you've ever seen!
His name was Isafael, and he'd stand upon a stage,
And tell his jokes to lord and serf, to commoner and mage.
But one dark day, his laugh went dim, his smile became a frown,
And all the kingdom wondered why their jester left the town.
His friend, a bard named Shani, sought him out with haste and care,
Through whispered rumor and forgotten road, she searched everywhere.
She found him slumped in sorrow deep, beside a river's bank,
The jester's spirit was so low, his jests had all gone blank.
"Oh, Isafael, my dearest friend," the bard began to play,
"Your jests may fail, your wit may fade, but laughter finds a way.
For folly isn't in a joke that's told and falls on stone,
True folly's in the loneliness of standing all alone.
So let us build a place for all, for merry jest and rhyme,
A place where we can laugh and drink, and let our spirits climb!"
And so they built this tavern here, on this very hallowed ground,
A place where friendship's honest worth will always still be found.
So raise your mugs and drink a toast, let tankards clink and ring,
To Isafael, whose folly we embrace, and to the friends we sing!

The crowd applauds and a sense of merriment fills the building to its rafters as the bardtender approaches once more. She's beaming from ear to ear and engages you in conversation for the next while. All manner of subjects fly by in discussion, your secrets and desires laid bare for every smile, wink and suggestive bite of her lip she offers you. Teasing out the tale of your life and of you. Her hand comes to rest upon yours for a moment and she thanks you for adding another story to her collection. Your suggestion that least she could do is offer information on herself is met with glee from those listening in. A tavern favourite about to begin
🎵 “The Ballad of Shani Robbins, Bard of Bewildering Bliss” 🎵
Oh Shani Robbins, lute in hand,
She wanders wide across the land,
With boots of charm and heart of gold,
And stories far too bold to hold!
She sang to kings, she dined with thieves,
Once used her hair to catch some leaves;
And when the wind said, “Time to roam,”
She called the road her sweetest home.
Now one fine night in Silvermere,
She met a cat-girl—purr sincere—
Whose tail did twitch with feline grace,
And left our bard a blushing face!
Then onward, to a beauty fair,
An icon famed beyond compare—
With eyes that shone like morning dew,
Who said, “Dear bard, I envy you!
For though I shine in marble halls,
Your laughter echoes through them all.”
And later still—oh, bless the skies—
She met a succubi with eyes
That sparkled wild and chaos-spun,
Who said, “Let’s dance ‘til we’re undone!”
They twirled through starlight, sweet and sly,
Till dawn said, “Well, that’s quite a tie!”
Through every land, from inn to inn,
She gathers hearts and grins akin;
Her songs bring joy, her tales bring cheer,
She trades her words for wine and ear.
So raise a glass, ye merry lot,
To Shani, bard of love and plot!
For though her path may twist and bend,
She finds a song in every friend.
As the crowd inside the tavern sing along it becomes clearer that this place seems to be a home for those who appreciate a good story and a good time. Looking around you're able to pick from the crowd several distinctive figures. A gallant blonde with shimmering blue eyes, a pale barbarian with her wine glass close at hand, an artificer hard at work on a clockwork version of the bard. All of them seem to be a focus of your host as she whirls through the tavern, playing her song before at last coming to rest, leaning against the counter opposite you.

Throughout the evening, some of those same figures approach and exchange words with the bard as she converses with all and sundry. When later pressed on who these people are, she smiles and explains that a few, are her adventuring party. Are friends, and in other cases, lovers. She smiles at the last of those words and her hand drifts to the locket around her neck, a blue heart that is twinned by the green worn by another within the tavern. Eager to know more of them, you ask if Shani could perhaps offer insight into her friends and thus she plays her third song of the night. Each verse deliberate and seeming to be directed at another within the walls of The Jester's Folly.

Come gather close and lend your ears, let laughter fill the hall,
For Shani sings of love and light, of friendship over all!

Oh, raise your cups and sing aloud,
For hearts so strong and true!

Their bonds forever new!
No storm can shake, no foe can break,
The love they all renew—

With beauty unmatched and a fierce embrace,
Her laughter rings like a royal decree,
A crown of courage for all to see!

With wordplay sharp and wit expressed,
Her puns could slay both fiend and fear,
And leave the weary grinning ear to ear!

Sweet Dani the Bunnygirl, hop of cheer,
Brings laughter and joy to all who draw near,
Her kindness glows, her giggles ring,
She’s springtime’s heart in everything!

And Mike the valiant, steady and strong,
The shield of the circle, steadfast and long,
A roar of courage, a laugh so wide,
With honor and heart at Shani’s side!

Now Yoko the warrior, fierce and true,
Her blade like lightning, her eyes sky-blue,
A bodyguard bold, yet gentle of soul,
Protecting her bard with a heart of gold.

Shani once said
Be good people
Stories sound better when they're shared with friends over good whiskey and bad decisions.

Let’s get this out of the way. Behind Shani is a Caucasian, CIS male. If you’re not into that, no hard feelings but we’re probably not the right opponents for each other. I just don't want anyone feeling they've been misled. If that doesn't bother you, then please read on.
