I slowly sat myself up after a moment and looked around the now-familiar room at the tavern we had remained in for the past few days. "Mornin', love." I sleepily grumbled out, before again letting out a stretch paired with a yawn before standing to my feet and walking to my pile of clothes. I began to slip on everything I usually wore, making sure it was all tied up and snug in place.

She played a little with her fork, keeping to stare at the door with a distracted look. She quickly finished her breakfast and got up of her chair, waiting for you to finish. I just hope that her and Ontharr have come up with solutions... because I don't want any further bloodshed.
As soon as you finished eating, she took your hand and led you out of the inn. The sun was shining bright that day, the streets were already flooded with people going back and forth.

"Just don't get your hopes up, s'all. I hate that I've gotta say that, but there's very little chance that any of this works out in any other way than more death." I... I can't help but still hope that there was another way to solve this. They might be strong but... if they engaged in a war I really doubt that they're gonna end up victorious.
She murmured while looking down at her own steps as you made your way through the streets. Well... I put all of my hopes in the adventurer's guild's decisions. I know they want to protect the city, but as Gladys said it's not that easy to engage in a war right now. One of the few good things politics did to this nation... the king wouldn't want them to. We'll find a way to handle them.
She said, as the scent of freshly made bread filled your nostrils as you walked through the shopping streets.

Luna nodded her head, drawing a deep sigh and bringing her hands to her chest in a silent prayer that things would get solved as peacefully as possible. Once you arrive at the adventurer's guild, there's a lot more people than usual around, Gladys stands in front of the doors talking with Ontharr and giving directives to some of the people. As soon as her eyes spot you, she sends off another group of people, welcoming you two with a serious face. "Good morning. I hope you two slept well, today's gonna be a very important day."
She said, Luna giving her a solemn gaze before bowing. "No need for formalities, we're friends now."
She waved her off before turning towards you. "I've got news. From the capital."

She said, showing you a letter with the royal sigil on it. "I've talked to one of the Zentharim's representative, they said they're willing to give us permissions to put our forces out in the next battle. This is not acceptable that some bunch of orcs stops our marketing nets."
As she spoke Luna saw her whole hopes crumble. "I sent out a bunch of scouts to investigate the area and find the perfect spot for a battle. We're to divide them in groups before assaulting their main village."

"We take one village at a time. Organize a group of soldiers to surround the place, then launch an assault. That way if any messengers happen to try and slip off we can cut them down and deal with the rest. We can cripple their sustainability at the same time, torch their fields and such."

She said before gesturing the both of you to follow her. Ontharr called for Luna and asked to talk with her for a little. She appeared really demoralized, but followed Ontharr anyway, waving to you as you get separated. Gladys leads you into a large room, a map of the entire country on the table and some wooden pieces. "So... we have three factions joining us. I don't think you're familiar with war strategies and factions themselves. The red ones are the soldiers of the Lord's Alliance. I am their captain. They're specialized in melee combact, they've been trained to do war and can easily face the orcs. We have weapons and horses."
She explained, gesturing to the red painted pieces on the desk. "Next one is the Gauntlet's men. The blue ones. They're war clerics, but they also consist in a potent frontline for our men to go and break in. Last but not least, we have the scouts of the Emerald Enclave. Archers, good at setting up traps and find the best spots to put them in a bad position militarly speaking."

I nodded, marking down various spots on the map in the southern forest region to detail where the villages were and what spots would be optimal for positioning and engagement. "Take equal amounts from each faction and make warbands of 'em. I'll take one along with me, and switch 'em out for another group after an assault should they sustain any wounds. The main village is more of a fortress, so we'll discuss that more in-depth after we've taken care of these little offshot villages."

Gladys nodded, following you and positioning the pieces around the spots you marked on the map. "Do they have a boss or a king or something like that? I'll admit that this is the first time I get to face a whole tribe of uncivilized."
She admitted, sitting down and starting to mark some other spots on the map. "I sent the scouts to find spots to set up camps for the soldiers to rest and get healed by our priests. Some are already on their way to get the job done. I'll let you have a little legion of men, we haven't many soldiers to work with but they're all well trained and well equipped. You'll be provided a horse, an armor and a better weapon if you need one."

With the favor of the night it won't be easy for them to escape and go warn the other villages. We will attack simultaneously multiple villages surrounding them and slowly approaching the core."
She raised an eyebrow at your question "Hydra fangs? Not a very common item, you should probably see at the black market for something like that. But I doubt you have currently the funds to afford something like that. If you need an enchated weapon we can make one of the Gauntlet's priests enchante your axe right now. Will take a couple hours though."

I shook my head, digging into my satchel and pulling out a hydra fang of my own. "No worries, was just wonderin' if I could get a replacement fer this. Oh well, I'll go out huntin' again after they cycle back through." I pricked the tip of my finger with the fang and held it up, mumbling incoherent chantings at the fang that was now stained red from the blood droplet.

I continued to mutter for a moment before finally speaking clearly. "Return to me." The fang slowly lifted itself from my fingers and begin to glow, before exploding into powder and temporarily blinding the both of us. I quickly squinted and rubbed a hand over my eyes, only to find that my axe from back at home was now dropped on the floor in front of me. It was in the same pristine condition I had left it, but now the tooth hanging from the bottom of the shaft was missing. Only the string that held it remained on the shaft.

Gladys gasped and covered her eyes as the light blinded her. She stared at you with widened eyes, blinking multiple times. "...! I... surely didn't expect something like this. Well it's even better to know that you can use some sort of magic. Even if I never trusted magic, I prefer brute force."
She said before getting up and walking around the table to reach you. "About your lady... I told Ontharr to bring her somewhere safe, she won't be joining us in the attack. Frankly, as a commander, I wouldn't want dead weights... or dead, at all."
She sighed "I hope you understand. War is not something made for delicate ladies..."
As she spoke she held the intricate pommel of her sword, which glowed purple "If you're ready to set off, we'll reach the others and bring with us a couple legions. The rest of the men will gather at the other spots for the attack."

I gave a half-laugh of disbelief before frowning a bit. "She ain't some delicate princess, ma'am. She can handle herself. She just.. doesn't much appreciate violence." I groaned before laying a gentle hand over her arm. "I'll follow through. But Luna comes with, in some capacity. Even if she's watchin' from afar, she's gonna be there. Alright?"

"She would do more harm than good... but if you wish to discuss things with her first, I told Ontharr to bring her to the church. They're discussing about private matters, you can find them there. I'll be here giving the last directives to my men before we depart. Come find me when you're done. And I really hope that she won't be with you. I mean it for her well-being. I wouldn't want to lose anymore souls."

The streets are busier than usual, soldiers and guards walking through them hurrying towards the adventurers guild. In front of the church, the same man you saw the first day you arrived into the city. "May you walk into the light of Selune, strong warrior."
He greeted you with a smile, before stepping aside to let you into the church. Inside, on one of the last benches there are Ontharr and Luna talking, she seems particularly upset, but when she sees you her face lights up as she gets up and runs towards you. Shakh!
She hurried to reach you and wrap you into a tight hug I thought you wouldn't have returned to me...
